They work together to improve IT tools for the benefit of all in the trade. The joint work of these booksellers, who dentify the needs of the profession, support the development of new messages, inform IT services companies and encourage them to integrate these new functions, enables all shops to benefit from cutting-edge tools.

As both a trade association and a cultural organisation, the Börsenverein works to promote books and reading whilst also fostering fair copyright laws and the preservation of Germany's policy of fixed book prices. The Digital Publishers Federation of Japan (DPFJ) aims to promote the digitalization of publishing culture, an important part of Japan’s cultural heritage; preserve and sustain the diversity of publishing culture; foster the sound development of digital publishing businesses by publishers; and, together with copyright holders, promote the growth and adoption of digital publishing not only in Japan but throughout the world.
To achieve these objectives, DPFJ undertakes the following activities:
- 1. Promoting the adoption and improving the quality of digital publishing.
- 2. Conducting research and studies on production, distribution, services, and other matters related to the digital publishing business.
- 3. Collecting and providing information related to the digital publishing business. 4. Promoting the development of the legal and regulatory environment for digital publishing and making relevant policy recommendations.
- 5. Facilitating exchange and cooperation with relevant organizations and institutions in Japan and overseas in relation to digital publishing.
- 6. Supporting international exchange and the global adoption of digital publishing.
- 7. Preserving and archiving digital data related to the digital publishing business.
